As part of our ongoing effort to engage in community outreach, Mainspring has elected to participate in the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society; Relay For Life, on Saturday, June 13, 2015. It was not a difficult decision, as almost every staff member has been touched in one way or another by the devastating disease.
So on Saturday, June 13, 2015, from 10 am – 10 pm, we’ll be joining other teams in a festival-like setting and taking turns walking or running the track at Bellevue High School, enjoying music and games, and hanging out with a great community of people. Last year 40 teams participated and together raised over $30,000 to fund awareness and research. The remarkable progress that’s been made in the fight against cancer in the past 100 years is thanks, in part, to the support, passion, and relentless dedication to Relay for Life participants and sponsors. We are excited to contribute to this worthwhile effort, while remembering and honoring those lost to the disease.
Alicia Webb, our Client Services Manager, has participated previously in this endeavor, and she shared her enthusiasm and affection for this event. Of particular memory is the evening Luminaria Ceremony, which provides participants an opportunity to remember loved ones lost, grieve in a supportive environment, reflect on their own personal cancer experience, and find hope. Votive bags will be available to decorate and dedicate to a loved one, and the glowing memories will illuminate the track at dusk, just prior to the Closing Ceremony.
The Mainspring team encourages you to come on out and share a lap, a beverage, or just a fun afternoon with us. We’ll have a “campsite” set up with a 10 x 10 tent to take respite from the scorching sun, and the upbeat tempo of the event will prove to be a summer high point. If you’d like to walk alongside your trusted advisor, we can provide a schedule of walk times closer to the event. On the flip side, if you’d like a chance to throw a water balloon at your advisor, I can arrange that, too!
